- Description
- Private nonprofit agency seeks to break the cycle of poverty, eliminate hunger, and raise public awareness through food drives, education programs, and advocacy. Distributes food ONLY to agencies, not to individuals.
- Services
- Distributes food donated (from growers, food drives, producers, packers, and retailers) to over 275 nonprofit feeding agencies in Alameda County; also distributes USDA surplus commodities. Provides nutritional education to participating agencies. Sponsors food drives (provides food collection barrels and pickup). Ongoing volunteer program for warehouse and office help. Food Helpline: provides telephone referrals to neighborhood emergency food providers.
Accepts donations of packaged food (especially high protein food),canned goods (vegetables, fruits, meat and fish), peanut butter, low-sugar cereals, bread, and produce. -
