- Description
- Research, promotion, and performance of music from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal
- Services
- Information and referral; lectures; workshops; voice training and music reading classes; translation of texts of works in this repertory from original languages (Spanish, Latin, Portuguese, Catalán, Afro-hispanic dialects) to English. Five programs: Coro Hispano de San Francisco (community chorus); Conjunto Nuevo Mundo (professional vocal-instrumental ensemble); Los Ministriles del Conjunto (wind band); Ibero-American Research Program (transcription and editing of works in manuscript and primary sources); and Archival Program.
In normal times, the Coro and Conjunto have performed 15-20 concerts annually in the Bay Area. For financial reasons, as of September 2013, the Board of IPMC has had to suspend performances, voice training and music reading classes for the coming year. Focus through 2014-16 will be on finding support to 1) underwrite the editing and production of 10 to 12 new CD releases from existing master-recordings, and 2) expand our present website to make translations, and eventually editions, of our repertory to the general public. -
